Historical heritage looking at the future

Thor Park in Genk is a conversion project of the former mining site of Waterschei. One of the seven former coal mines in the ‘Belgian Kempen’. Driven by the Limburg Investment Company ‘LRM’, the city of Genk and the KU Leuven, the site is being transformed into a hotspot for smart and sustainable innovation with a focus on energy transition, smart manufacturing and smart cities.

Thor Park is a vibrant intersection of past and future – it represents the economic history of the region and unifies a series of flagship buildings of the city of Genk.
