Thor Park is the hotspot where science, business, education and technology come together.

As a sustainable and innovative site, Thor Park focuses on three domains: energy transition, smart manufacturing and smart city applications.

Thor Park provides access to a unique mix of building blocks to transform ideas into the valorisation of products and services, thus creating a positive impact on the world of today and tomorrow.

Thor Park unifies different types of companies (start-ups, scale-ups, SMEs, established enterprises), education- and research institutions, universities and public authorities at one physical location as part of the Thor Community and boosts collaboration to create synergies.

Residents of Thor Park have access to the expertise and infrastructure of the various entities on site (EnergyVille, T2-campus, IncubaThor, FacThory en Thor Central). A unique mix of knowledge, business activities, education, research and network nowhere else to be found.

Thor Park is a public domain where companies can test their technologies and carry out experiments on a real-life scale and showcase them as part of the Open Thor Living Lab. Thor Park is also the first and only regulatory sandbox for energy in Flanders.

Moreover, Thor Park residents have access to a wide variety of partners (financial, acceleration, HR, legal, etc.), a broad network of companies and partners, while enjoying the support of the Thor Park team.

Energy transition

Ecosystem of companies and research institute EnergyVille, in the fields of sustainable energy and intelligent energy systems with the objective to develop technology to support the transition to an energy-efficient, decarbonised and sustainable urban environment.

Companies at Thor Park can take advantage of the proximity to EnergyVille, their specialised labs and research and use IncubaThor facilities to collaborate, expand their business and seek co-funding.

Smart manufacturing

Ecosystem of companies and research institutes that make a (new) product and provide the technology for digitising and automating an existing process and make it smarter, in order to increase flexibility and reduce lead time.

The companies at Thor Park can use the flexible production units, labs, test facilities and office spaces at FacThory and IncubaThor to scale up their idea up to “design for manufacturing”.

Smart City applications

Smart City applications that shape the connected world of today and tomorrow are tested at Thor Park. These applications include smart cameras and smart parking, smart buildings, smart home, etc., and key concepts such as AR, VR and AI. The smart future is built and tested at the heart of the old coal industry.

Companies at Thor Park can test their experiments in real-life conditions in the Open Thor Living Lab. Companies, schools and individuals can experiment with smart city applications using the smart city TECHville and TECHlabs at T2-campus.
